Ted Dekker fans responded in droves when the best-selling author invited readers to download four episodes of his upcoming fiction release, Eyes Wide Open (Outlaw Studios), with the first episode for free. “We never expected 200,000 to join us on this episodic ride,” said an e-mail sent to those who signed up for the promotion. Fans were shown appreciation on Dekker’s Facebook page: “Thank you for proving to the world that stories can be engaged in fresh, new ways.” Readers were offered each of four sequential 75-page e-books or episodes—Identity, Mirrors, Unseen and Seer—starting Dec. 28. While the first was free, readers had to pay $2.99 for each episode thereafter. All are now live and available to any reader on multiple platforms. Several outlets—Christian Book Distributors, Apple, Amazon and Kobo—are still offering the first episode, Identity, free of charge. Click here to download. The publisher will release the complete 300-page story as a single e-book or softcover edition Feb. 4. Editor's note: This story has been corrected since its original publication. |
