GRAMMY-nominated artist Matthew West will perform on Katie Couric's ABC talk show, Katie, Thursday, July 18. West will also discuss his new gift book, releasing July 23 from Thomas Nelson.

Forgiveness tells stories of lives changed through acts of forgiveness. For West's latest album, Into The Light (Sparrow Records/Capitol Christian Distribution), he asked fans to share their stories. West noted that the 20,000 stories he received were connected by the same theme of forgiveness—the title of a No. 1 single from Into The Light.

"Forgiveness can mean the difference between pain and joy, brokenness and healing, confinement and freedom," West writes in the book. "Each of the stories I have selected for this book powerfully illustrate this overarching theme, letting us all in to the extraordinary world of each storyteller."

The inspiration behind the song "Forgiveness" was Renée Napier, whose 20-year-old daughter was killed by a drunk driver whom she chose to forgive and asked the authorities for his early release. Napier wrote the foreword to Forgiveness.
