The Isaacs singer Jimmy Yeary won the Song of the Year award at the 47th Annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards presented at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 6. The award, shared with co-writers Jessi Alexander and Connie Harrington, was given for writing the No. 1 Country song “I Drive Your Truck,” performed by Lee Brice. “The story behind this song is so powerful and connects with everyday people's lives and the losses we all endure,” Yeary said. “This song speaks to everyone.” “Without the sacrifice of people like Jared Monti, whom this song was written about, none of this would be possible,” Yeary added. “I am honored that I had a part in the world getting to hear his story.” Yeary, who joined gospel group The Isaacs in 2011 and married Sonya Isaacs, has co-written several hit country songs, including Martina McBride’s hit “I'm Gonna Love You Through It” and Rascal Flatts’ “Why Wait.” “I can't think of any two people I'd rather share this award with,” Yeary said of Alexander and Harrington. |
