Mary C. Neal, M.D., author of the No. 1 New York Times best-seller To Heaven and Back (WaterBrook Press), will be featured in a CNN documentary Dec. 1. The documentary, also titled To Heaven and Back, explores Neal’s near-death experience at the center of her book.

Neal’s story will also be featured on the Hallmark Channel’s Home & Family program Dec. 2.

In To Heaven and Back, Neal, an orthopedic surgeon in Jackson, Wyo., recounts her experience drowning during a kayaking accident in South America and her journey to heaven—where she communicated with angels—ultimately returning to earth to share what she learned.

To Heaven and Back was originally self-published, but was acquired by WaterBrook following a spike in online sales. The WaterBrook edition spent 46 weeks on the New York Times best-seller list with 13 weeks at No. 1 and has nearly 800,000 copies in print.
