Thom Rainer’s I Am A Church Member (B&H Books) and Jim Belcher’s In Search of Deep Faith (IVP Books) won top honors in the 2013 Leadership Journal Book Awards. The awards are offered to the best leadership and ministry books of the year as chosen by the Leadership Journal staff. In Search of Deep Faith received the top prize of “Best of the Best” for The Leader’s Inner Life category. Runner-up titles include One Way Love by Tullian Tchividjian (David C Cook), Why Nobody Wants to Go to Church Anymore by Thom and Joani Schultz (Group Publishing), Crazy Busy by Kevin DeYoung (Crossway) and Gospel by J.D. Greear (B&H Books). “In Search of Deep Faith creates a love for courageous Christians of history, connects these discoveries to the challenges of today’s world and charts a course through the European continent that I would love to trek,” said reviewer Paul Atwater. I Am a Church Member won The Leader’s Outer Life category, which Atwater described as “a simple tool that has the potential to foster generations of health and productive service in churches of every size and denomination.” The runners-up for that category were Straining at the Oars by H. Dana Fearon III with Gordon S. Mikoski (Eerdmans Publishing), Innovation’s Dirty Little Secret by Larry Osborne (Zondervan), Troubled Minds by Amy Simpson (IVP Books) and Disunity in Christ by Christena Cleveland (IVP Books). |
