Police arrested a manager at a Family Christian for the theft of approximately $3,000 from the Chain’s Boardman, Ohio, store. Christopher Berner is charged with fifth-degree felony theft. Police arrested Berner on March 11 after a six-month loss-prevention investigation into the theft, according to Youngstown, Ohio-based newspaper The Vindicator. Police believe Berner had been processing fake returns and voiding transactions, then pocketing the money. Berner admitted the theft to the company’s regional loss-prevention team, according to the report. He also admitted stealing money from cash transactions at the store. The store moved to its current site Jan. 30, but authorities believe the thefts took place prior to that relocation. |
