‘Preaching Magazine’ names 2013’s top books for preachers |

R. Albert Mohler Jr., best-selling author and president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., presented his annual list of books for Preaching Magazine “that deserve any preacher's careful attention.” “All of them represent a contribution worthy of our time and priority,” Mohler said of the 10 books he selected. Listed in the March/April issue, the books were as follows: Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Christian Belief, John M. Frame (P&R Publishing); Living by Revealed Truth: The Life and Pastoral Ministry of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Tom Nettles (Mentor); The Question of Canon: Challenging the Status Quo in the New Testament Debate, Michael J. Kruger (IVP Academic); The King in His Beauty: A Biblical Theology of the Old and New Testaments, Thomas R. Schreiner (Baker Academic/Baker Publishing Group); Can You Believe It’s True?: Christian Apologetics in a Modern & Postmodern Era, John S. Feinberg (Crossway); Galatians, “Baker Exegetical Commentary on the New Testament,” Douglas J. Moo (Baker Academic/Baker Publishing Group); Pilgrim Theology: Core Doctrines for Christian Disciples, Michael Horton (Zondervan);Bach: Music in the Castle of Heaven, John Eliot Gardiner (Knopf); A History of Future Cities, Daniel Brook (W.W. Norton & Co.); and Reading for Preaching: The Preacher in Conversation With Storytellers, Biographers, Poets, and Journalists, Cornelius Plantinga Jr. (Wm. B. Eerdmans).
