Chris Tomlin leads Christian artists in finalist nods for the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, earning a spot in each of the three dedicated Christian music categories. In addition, Mandisa, Skillet and Matthew West each secured two finalist spots. Finalists for Top Christian Artist are Mandisa, Skillet, TobyMac, Tomlin and West. Top Christian Album finalists are Skillet’s Rise (Atlantic Records/Word Distribution), Third Day’s Miracle (Essential Records/Provident Distribution), Tomlin’s Burning Lights (sixstepsrecords/Capitol Christian Distribution), Alan Jackson’s Precious Memories: Volume II (EMI Nashville/Capitol Christian Distribution) and the compilation album WOW Hits 2014 (Capitol Christian Distribution). Finalists for Top Christian Song are Mandisa’s title track from Overcomer (Sparrow Records/Capitol Christian Distribution), Building 429’s title track from We Won’t Be Shaken (Essential Records/Provident Distribution), Sidewalk Prophets’ “Help Me Find It” from Live Like That (Fervent Records/Word Distribution), West’s “Hello, My Name Is” from Into the Light (Sparrow/Capitol Christian Distribution) and Tomlin’s “Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)” from Burning Lights. The Robertsons of Duck Dynasty fame earned a Top Country Album finalist slot for holiday album Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas (Universal Music Group Nashville/Capitol Christian Distribution). Winners will be announced at the Billboard Music Awards ceremony May 18 at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand hotel casino. |
