Best-selling author and blogger Jen Hatmaker is taking her family to HGTV. With her Harley-riding pastor-husband and their five children, Hatmaker launches an eight-episode home-renovation reality series Aug. 7, airing at 11 p.m. EST/PST. Titled My Big Family Renovation, the show chronicles the family’s journey as they sell their Austin, Texas, home and buy a 1908 farmhouse in nearby Buda, Texas. “We fell in love with the Hatmaker family right away,” Steven Lerner, senior vice president of programming and production at HGTV and DIY Network, said in a statement. “They wanted to treat this farmhouse renovation as a fun, family adventure, and these are the reasons that viewers are going to enjoy this show.” In 2013, Hatmaker appeared on NBC’s Today show after a post on her “mommy blog” went viral. Two of the Hatmakers’ five children were adopted from Ethiopia. Hatmaker blogs at jenhatmaker.com and is the author of a number of books, including 7: An Experimental Mutiny Against Excess, a best-selling B&H Books title. Her husband, Brandon Hatmaker, is pastor of Austin New Church, blogger at brandonhatmaker.com and is author of Barefoot Church: Serving the Least in a Consumer Culture (Zondervan). |
