Award-winning Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman took to Twitter today to say he is “honored & humbled” by the way one of his songs comforted the family of Ebola virus victim Nancy Writebol. Writebol and Dr. Kent Brantly contracted the often deadly virus while they were working in Africa as Christian aid workers. They were flown to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, where they were successfully treated for the virus and are expected to make full recoveries. Writebol was quietly released from the hospital on Tuesday; Brantly was released today. In an interview with Christianity Today, Nancy’s daughter-in-law Stephanie Writebol said that just a few days after receiving the news that her mother-in-law had contracted the virus, a friend sent Stephanie Steven Curtis Chapman’s song, "Glorious Unfolding." “That song resonated in my heart from the moment I first heard it,” Stephanie said in the interview with CT. “The words to that first verse was where we were—this is not how we thought life would be, and it did feel like an end was coming. Oh, how we needed to be reminded in that moment that there was so so much more of the story to tell—that God could and would use it to continue the gospel story.” The Writebol family thanked Chapman for “being faithful to the calling God has placed on his life and using his music to put forth the gospel.” |
