The Mardel Christian & Education retail chain today announced the appointment of Jay DePalmo as CEO. DePalmo will replace Mardel founder and current CEO Mart Green and will begin his new role April 20. DePalmo comes to Mardel after 16 years at sister company Hobby Lobby. He brings a vision for sustained year-over-year growth as Mardel continues to increase its in-store and online Christian lifestyle product offerings, including a wide range of Bibles, books, music, church supplies, education materials, jewelry, apparel, gifts and décor. “For more than 30 years, Mardel has gathered some of the most talented servant leaders in the industry, and Jay is absolutely counted among them,” Green said. “This is an exciting time to be in the Christian lifestyle industry, and I look forward to working with Jay and Mardel President John Nardini to bring growth and service opportunities to Mardel. Our business is strong and now is the perfect time to hand over the CEO duties to Jay.” DePalmo’s appointment to Mardel CEO will allow Green to stay involved in furthering the mission of the company while also devoting more time to the family of businesses, which include Hobby Lobby, Hemispheres and other investment and ministry opportunities. “I’m honored to continue the legacy built by Mart and the Green family bringing quality Christian lifestyle products to communities around the country,” DePalmo said. “Mardel’s growth is a testament to Mart and John’s leadership and vision, and I look forward to serving them, the employees and the customers of Mardel in this new role.” Green will continue to serve on the board of directors. |
