Winners of the 2015 Christian Retailing’s Best awards were announced Tuesday morning, June 30, at the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS) in Orlando, Florida. B&H Publishing Group was the runaway winner with 20 awards this year, while Abingdon Press won seven awards and Lighthouse Christian Products took home four. Following a performance by soloist and violinist Jean Watson (Shadowlands Music), the awards were presented at the Creative Pavilion stage at the Orange County Convention Center. Dr. Steve Greene, executive vice president of media at Charisma Media, welcomed the guests, and Christine D. Johnson, editor of Christian Retailing magazine, the sponsor of Christian Retailing’s Best, emceed the awards. Nominating companies submitted books, Bibles, gifts, DVDs and more in this year’s competition. In each category, three finalists were named, although some categories had more than three because of ties. Two categories—Christian Living: Spiritual Growth and Church and Culture—had two winners, one of them because of a tie. Christian retailers, publishers, church store managers and volunteers—in short, anyone actively engaged in the Christian products industry—were eligible to vote for the nominated products. Voters were asked to judge the nominations on their impact, including their ability to speak to people’s hearts and evoke emotion; open people’s minds to new ways of thinking; and encourage and affirm Christlike living. Introduced in 2001, the awards—formerly known as the Retailers Choice Awards—have been increasingly acknowledged as an important way of recognizing some of the most significant new, life-changing products in the Christian retail industry.
