The Baker Academic title A New Heaven and a New Earth: Reclaiming Biblical Eschatology by J. Richard Middleton (Baker Publishing Group) won in the Biblical Studies category of the 2014 Word Awards. The Word Awards encourage the pursuit of excellence in the art, craft, practice and ministry of writing and help to raise the profile of Canadian writers who are Christian. Presented by the Word Guild, the 2014 Awards celebrate outstanding works released in 2013. This is not the first time that A New Heaven and a New Earth has received critical acclaim. The title has previously been named a top book of 2014 by Englewood Review of Books, Hearts & Minds Books and the Jesus Creed blog. Other 2014 Word Award winners include Leonard Hjalmarson's No Place Like Home (The Urban Loft), which took home the category prize for Academic Books as well as the Grace Irwin Prize for book of the year; Drew Dick's Yawning at Tigers (Thomas Nelson) for Christian Living Books; Sandra Orchard's Blind Trust (Revell/Baker Publishing Group) for Suspense Novels; and Karen V. Robichaud's The Unforgiving Sea (Word Alive Press) for Contemporary Novels. For a complete list of winners, click here. |
