Kingstone Media announced today the launch of a new Kingstone Comics app. The company’s signature product, The Kingstone Bible, is beginning to release on Android and Apple devices worldwide. Kingstone CEO and publisher Art Ayris marveled at the company's international reach. “We began to see how transcultural comics were when mission agencies and Bible societies all over the globe began approaching us saying, ‘You have something special here that has some great missional implications,’” Ayris said. The international growth for Kingstone has been prodigious. As of August, over 300 languages have access to The Kingstone Bible. In addition to the English language app, the company plans to release 10 apps in additional languages during the first quarter of 2016. Ayris said the company tries to take its cues from Marvel and DC Comics rather than Christian culture. Additionally, Ayris says their products have had wide consumer appeal. “Our demographics are all over the map,” he said. “We aim for the 10-14 tween crowd, but we have parents of 5 year olds demanding more products, stating their kids read the covers off of them. But our largest social-media demographic continues to be males 18-35.” Though Kingstone Comics distributes through general market retailers as well as Christian book chains, the company pushes much of its highly illustrated product via digital channels. Kingstone is the only Christian publisher on ComiXology, the largest comic app in the world with over 250 million downloads. Kingstone also drives its brand of faith comics across Kindle, iTunes, Scribd, Google, Hoopla, Nook, Vyrso, Kobo, Overdrive and other digital sites. |
