Christian rock group Skillet recently celebrated its third Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Platinum certification, thanks to strong digital sales for the single “Awake and Alive.” Singles "Monster" and "Hero" were certified Platinum in 2012 and 2014, respectively. Platinum certification recognizes singles that sell over 1 million digital copies. This fall Skillet will begin recording its 2016 album. The band has sold over 11 million albums and singles in the U.S. alone. Skillet will also headline the western leg of the Winter Jam Tour Spectacular, one of the largest annual tours in the world. Skillet headlined the winter/spring leg of the tour earlier this year, which attracted more than 600,000 people at a total of 47 shows. The group's most recent single, “Good to be Alive," was nominated in the Rock Song of the Year category at the 46th annual GMA Dove Awards. |
