Amazon recently named Todd Burpo’s Heaven Is for Real: A Little Boy’s Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back (Thomas Nelson/HarperCollins Christian Publishing) one of Amazon’s Top 20 Best-Selling Books of All Time. The book came in at No. 17. Since its 2010 release, Heaven Is for Real has reached No. 1 on a number of best-seller lists, including The New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, Publishers Weekly, National Public Radio, The Globe and Mail, CBA and Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA). Mark Schoenwald, CEO and president of HarperCollins Christian Publishing, was honored by the book's success. “It has been our privilege to help bring Colton Burpo’s story to millions of readers around the world,” said Schoenwald. “Many have been blessed by reading Heaven Is for Real, and we know that many more will continue to be inspired by this timeless and true story of Colton’s visit to heaven and back.” The book was adapted into a major motion picture in 2014 which grossed over $100 million in global box office sales. The book also was nominated as the 2014 ECPA’s Book of the Year. Matt Baugher, senior vice president and publisher of W Publisher Group, said he was proud of the book’s achievements. “Heaven Is for Real has surpassed all expectations at every turn and continues to do so,” Baugher said. “From the first day we met young Colton Burpo, we could tell that he was a very special boy and we knew we needed to publish this book. His parents showed great courage in opening up about their experience, and this family’s story has resonated across the world, attaining No. 1 best-seller status in multiple countries. We are honored and proud to have played a part in such an amazing story.” |
