Doug Ross, director of Global Literature Connection, has partnered with Rick Iles to form cooperative effort LINKS (Literature In New KontextS), in order to support Christian publishing in Eastern Europe. Iles and Ross will sponsor a seminar for Christian publishers in Oradea, Romania, Feb. 8-10. Global Literature Connection is a U.S. division of Global Connection International. “This is the first LINKS event since Rick and I started talking about this one year ago. Our partnership with Rick has led to the formation of LINKS which mirrors Global (Literature) Connection's vision for serving the church, ministering to pastors, nurturing the church and training leaders in some of the most difficult parts of the world,” Ross said. Featured speaker at the event will be veteran publisher John VanDiest, former president of Multnomah Publishers and current associate publisher for Tyndale House Publishers. Other speakers will include Dragomir Bojan, a Romanian professor and literature teacher; Manfred Dressel, an economic and marketing consultant from Austria; Jan Bica, a publisher from the Czech Republic; Bob Clark, European representative for Cook Communications Ministries; and Iles, who will direct the conference. On the agenda is the formation of a Christian publishing association in Romania.
Following the publishing seminar VanDiest and Iles will go to Sophia, Bulgaria, to conduct a Christian writers' conference. They plan to meet with the leadership of the Bulgarian Christian Publishers Association regarding a seminar for publishers planned for this fall.
