Peermusic and Showdown Publishing have announced a new joint venture to expand their reach in the contemporary Christian market. Also announced was the first signing to the new arrangement, songwriter Jason Ingram (who has written for Rachael Lampa, Joy Williams, Building 429, Rebecca St. James and Salvador).

“I am proud to partner with a company that has had such a distinctive history as Peermusic,” said Dave Steunebrink, founder and president of Showdown Publishing. “It's rare and exciting to find true innovators who have maintained independence in a world of corporate structure and mind-set. In a time where our industry business model is in transition daily, this is exactly the type of progressive partner that I want to be working alongside.”

Peermusic has “a rich history with Southern gospel music via our longtime relationship with Governor Jimmie Davis, as well as an early contemporary of the governor's, Dottie Rambo,” said Kevin Lamb, vice president of Peermusic. “Contemporary Christian music is a genre we have been watching, but (we) have been looking for the right situation. We believe we've found this with Showdown.”

Lamb said of Ingram's signing: “We couldn't think of a better way to start this venture together than to find such an enormous talent in Jason Ingram. Currently, he is writing for Josh Groban, the new Michael W. Smith album and has recently wrapped up production on the new Bebo Norman project, featuring a number of his co-writes.”

One of the benefits of the new arrangement is Peermusic's “ability to promote songs that might have only been CBA releases and take them directly to any of their 31 offices worldwide for use in film, TV, advertising and across genres as diverse as Pop, Rock, Latin and even Classical,” Steunebrink said.

Peermusic and Showdown are in talks with a number of other artist / writers and will announce other signings shortly.
