Unity Marketing plans to conduct a research study to help companies that manufacture, market and sell gift items. With a focus on consumers' shopping behavior, the survey of 1,000 consumers will include data and statistics about the gift market's size, growth and demographics as well as consumers' favorite brands, stores and designers. A portion of the survey will be devoted specifically to the gift-store shopping experience.

Buyer attendance was strong for recent gift shows, leaving many gift companies hopeful that the 2007 sales year will be a strong one, according Unity Marketing, which specializes in research of gift consumers.

In 2005 and 2006, giftables were among the three most popular gift choices for gift giving. Only entertainment and recreational items such as DVDs, CDs, books, toys, sporting goods and gift certificates were bought by slightly more gifters, Unity Marketing said. The typical gift buyer spent $246 buying giftables to give as gifts in 2005.
