Amazing Grace , an upcoming Walden Media film on the life of British abolitionist William Wilberforce, is the inspiration for Amazing Grace Sunday. On Feb. 18, thousands of people in churches worldwide are expected to stand against slavery by praying for freedom and singing the classic hymn “Amazing Grace.” Churches can register at www.amazinggracesunday.com to download lyrics, music and bulletin inserts and get more information about the background of the hymn. Amazing Grace Sunday is part of The Amazing Change campaign, also inspired by the film. Walden Media's integrated social justice campaign seeks to raise awareness and funds to help abolish slavery, gather signatures on a petition to end modern-day slavery and motivate a new generation of activists. In March, Zondervan will release Be the Change: Your Guide to Freeing Slaves and Changing the World in Other Ways by 15-year-old Zach Hunter, who works to mobilize students to end slavery in their generation as spokesperson for The Amazing Change campaign.
Opening in theaters Feb. 23, Amazing Grace stars Ioan Gruffudd (Fantastic Four |
