Nominees for the eighth annual Christy Awards have been announced. The awards for excellence in Christian fiction will go to winners in eight categories: Contemporary (Stand-alone), Contemporary (Series, Sequels and Novellas), Historical, Romance, Suspense, Lits (light in tone novels), Young Adult and First Novel.

The nominees in the Contemporary (Stand-alone) category are Dwelling Places by Vinita Hampton Wright (HarperOne), Straight Up by Lisa Samson (WaterBrook Press) and Winter Birds by Jamie Langston Turner (Bethany House Publishers).

The finalists in the Contemporary (Series, Sequels and Novellas) category are The Brethren by Beverly Lewis (Bethany House Publishers), Escape From Fred by Brad Whittington (B&H Publishing Group) and The Proof by Austin Boyd (NavPress).

For the Historical category, the nominees are Glastonbury Tor by LeAnne Hardy and Pieces of Silver by Maureen Lang (both published by Kregel), Grace in Thine Eyes by Liz Curtis Higgs (WaterBrook Press) and Madman by Tracy Groot (Moody Press).

The nominees in the Romance category are The Measure of a Lady by Deeanne Gist (Bethany House Publishers), Monday Morning Faith by Lori Copeland (Zondervan) and The Redemption by M.L. Tyndall (Barbour).

The finalists in the Suspense category are The Begotten by Lisa T. Bergren (Berkley), The Hidden by Kathryn Mackel (Thomas Nelson) and Plague Maker by Tim Downs (Thomas Nelson).

Bad Idea by Todd & Jedd Hafer (NavPress), The Way of the Wilderking by Jonathan Rogers (B&H Publishing Group) and William Henry Is a Fine Name by Cathy Gohlke (Moody Press) are the nominees in the Young Adult category.
