Tyndale House Publishers has reported a successful launch for Super Bowl-winning coach Tony Dungy's memoir, Quiet Strength. The man who led the Indianapolis Colts to victory at this year's big football game met thousands of fans in eight bookstore signing events from Florida to New Jersey, the Carol Stream, Ill.-based publisher announced. Dungy's in-store appearances kicked off July 13 at Bookends in Ridgewood, N.J., where Dungy and his wife, Lauren, greeted more than 400 fans, including some who had driven from Indianapolis for the occasion. "It is evident why this man is successful both on and off the field," said Bookends co-owner and manager Walter Boyer. Customers began lining up as early as 5 a.m. for the two-hour signing held the evening of July 15 at the Anchor Room bookstore in Fort Wayne, Ind., where almost 2,000 copies of Quiet Strength were sold. Dungy began his nine-day book tour at the International Christian Retail Show in Atlanta, July 10, the day of his book's release, when he spoke at the event's Super Session gathering and signed copies of his memoir at the Tyndale House booth. Quiet Strength debuted as No. 35 on USA Today's "Top 150" books for the week beginning July 16 and is on track for other soon-to-be-announced national best-sellers lists, said Tyndale in a statement. |
