CBA has endorsed a new winter show that will fill the hole left in the industry calendar by the booksellers' trade association's cancellation of Advance 2008. To be held in Toronto, Jan. 24-26, Christian Trade Association International's (CTAI) Marketsquare International: A World of Opportunity is a "table top" display event that is being organized to serve the growing number of international buyers who want to be able to meet collectively with U.S.-based suppliers early in the year. "We recognize the important need for internationals to see Christian products firsthand more than once a year, and we believe that Marketsquare International ... will be a very helpful complement to the International Christian Retail Show in Orlando this July," CBA President and CEO Bill Anderson said in a statement. CTAI President Jim Powell said the show is "an opportunity to serve the international community. But I'm surprised at the wide support this new convention has already achieved. It promises to be a great new addition to the marketing opportunities available to Christian product suppliers, especially those with an international mission." To be held at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre, in Mississauga, Ontario, located near the Toronto airport, Marketsquare International will include workshops for publishers and retailers, "opportunities for fellowship and networking," and offers for both international buyers and Canadian booksellers to encourage attendance, CTAI said. |
