Christian Trade Association International (CTAI) has announced that the first 150 buyers from outside North America who pre-register for Marketsquare International: A World of Opportunity will receive a free night's lodging at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in Mississauga, Ontario. "No convention in North America has ever come close to this kind of incentive for international buyers," CTAI President Jim Powell said. "This event is all about the growing international Christian trade. I believe this offer to international buyers highlights that passion." To be held Jan. 24-26 near the Toronto Pearson International Airport, Marketsquare International is a "table top" display event that is being organized to serve the growing number of international buyers who want to be able to meet collectively with U.S.-based suppliers early in the year, CTAI said. "We need Marketsquare International," said Sylvester Ejeh, who runs Edysyl Christian Bookshop in Edysyl, Nigeria. "We may not love Toronto in January, but we must meet with American suppliers at least twice a year." The convention will include workshops for publishers and retailers, "opportunities for fellowship and networking," and offers for both international buyers and Canadian booksellers to encourage attendance, CTAI said. CBA recently endorsed the new winter show, which will fill the hole left in the industry calendar by the booksellers' trade association's cancellation of Advance 2008.
