'Fireproof' still going strong |

Fireproof placed No. 11 at the weekend box office while earning an estimated $3.1 million from 875 theaters, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. The surprise hit drama, which stars Kirk Cameron as a firefighter who seeks God to rescue his marriage, has made $16.9 million since it debuted at No. 4 the weekend of Sept. 26 with $6.8 million total receipts in just 839 theaters nationwide. Fireproof finished one spot behind City of Ember, ranked No. 10 with $3.2 million—one of four movies that opened at the weekend. City of Ember was shown on 2,022 theaters, BoxOfficeMojo.com reported. According to the Fireproof's Web site, 300 new theaters will be added Oct. 17. A marriage book written by the film's co-producing brothers Stephen and Alex Kendrick, The Love Dare (B&H Publishing Group)—which debuted at No. 4 on The New York Times Paperback Advice best-seller list the week of Oct. 3—has 600,000 copies in print, and was in its fifth printing. Meanwhile, Billy: The Early Years—about the start of Billy Graham's ministry—placed at No. 28 after debuting on 282 screens in the Southeast and Texas this weekend. |
