Reigning three-time Gospel Music Association Male Vocalist of the Year Chris Tomlin recently received a Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Platinum and Gold certification for his albums, Arriving and See the Morning (sixstepsrecords/EMI CMG Distribution), respectively. The RIAA Platinum certification signifies U.S. album shipments exceeding 1 million units, while the Gold recognition represents more than 500,000 units sold. Tomlin's fifth studio album Hello Love (sixstepsrecords/EMI CMG Distribution) was released Sept. 2. The album's debut single "Jesus Messiah," which released June 13, was the No. 1 song on R&R AC Indicator chart the week of Aug. 24. Hello Love debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart for the week of Sept. 10, and it was the highest-charting iTunes debut ever for a Christian album, sixstepsrecords said. Meanwhile, Tomlin has announced his Hello Love Tour, featuring Israel Houghton & New Breed. The tour, which kicks off Jan. 22 in Hershey, Pa., will hit more than 35 cities nationwide and run through April 9. |
