RANDY TRAVIS WINS 'SONG OF THE YEAR' ACM AWARD Print Email

Randy Travis' "Three Wooden Crosses" won "Song of the Year" honors May 26, at the 39th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards (ACMs), which were held at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Travis and songwriters Doug Johnson and Kim Williams accepted the award during the live broadcast on CBS. The song also was nominated for "Single Record of the Year."

This is the latest honor for the No. 1 country radio hit by Travis, from Rise and Shine (Word). The song was named "Country Recorded Song of the Year" at GMA's 35th Annual Music Awards in April. It also received "Song of the Year" honors at the 37th Annual Country Music Association (CMA) awards show as well as from the Christian Country Music Association and The Nashville Songwriters Association this past November.
