Peter Furler, lead singer for Newsboys, was awarded "Christian Song of the Year" at the 26th Annual American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Christian Music Awards. The awards ceremony took place May 24 at Richland Country Club in Nashville.

A tie took place for "Christian Songwriter of the Year," with Bart Millard ("I Can Only Imagine," "Spoken For" and "Word Of God Speak") and Nichole Nordeman ("Holy"and "Legacy") sharing the honors. EMI Music CMG Publishing ("He Reigns," "Holy," "I Will Be," "Legacy," "You Are My King," "You Get Me" and "You're My God") took home the award for "Christian Publisher of the Year."
