Four-time Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Steven Curtis Chapman will perform a special concert Sept. 21 for the troops from the Fort Campbell, Ky., 101st Airborne Air Assault and their families before deployment to Iraq. Sponsors of the event, WAY-FM and LifeWay Christian Bookstores, expect several thousand to attend. "I'm so excited about the chance to be with the troops at Fort Campbell," Chapman said. "I hope this day and concert encourages them and can in some small way express my sincere thanks for all they are doing and the sacrifices they are making in the service of our country. It's going to be my honor to be with the Screaming Eagles." Before arriving at the base in Fort Campbell, Chapman will appear from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. CST at the Cool Springs LifeWay store, in Franklin, Tenn., to sign copies of his new CD, which will be released that day. Later, he plans to visit with many wounded soldiers at the base and have lunch with the troops and their families. Parachutists from the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles will fly in to kick off Chapman's performance. Then following the concert, he will make a special appearance at the Lifeway Store in Fort Campbell for another CD signing. Customers of all LifeWay Nashville, Tenn., locations can donate an extra $3 with purchase of All Things New at regular price, and a copy will be given to the troops in Iraq. This offer is only available Sept. 21 at Tennessee's downtown Nashville, Cool Springs, Clarksville and Murfreesboro stores.
