On the eve of the first anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II, Genius Products Inc. and The Weinstein Company are to release on DVD Have No Fear: The Life of Pope John Paul II. Aired on ABC in December, the film chronicles the life of the late pope, from the moments that defined him in the eyes of the public to personal moments that shaped his views of the world. The 87-minute production will be available on DVD ($19.98, suggested retail price) on March 28 to coincide with the Easter holiday season. Have No Fear: The Life of Pope John Paul II stars Thomas Kretschmann (King Kong, The Pianist) as Pope John Paul II; was written by Michael Hirst (Elizabeth), Lorenzo Minoli and Judd Parkin; and was directed by Jeff Bleckner (The Beach Boys: An American Family, Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story).
