A film based on the award-winning novel by Francine Rivers (Tyndale House), The Last Sin Eater will be released on DVD May 15 by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and distributed by Word Distribution. The movie, which received mixed reviews, grossed $388,390 when it was released by FoxFaith in February, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.

The evangelistic thriller, rated PG-13 for thematic elements and some intense sequences of violence, is about a young girl who seeks forgiveness through an ancient Welsh ritual involving a man known as “the Sin Eater.” The film stars Louise Fletcher (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest) and Henry Thomas (Gangs of New York, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial).

The Last Sin Eater won the 1999 Gold Medallion Book Award for fiction presented by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. The DVD, which retails for $26.98, features both the full-screen and widescreen versions, with English and Spanish subtitles.
