More than 100 of Bill Gaither's "Homecoming" series have received Recording Industry Association of America certifications. As of March 31, 106 of the video projects have been certified multi-platinum, 51 platinum and 51 gold. The platinum certification signifies U.S. video shipments exceeding 1 million units, while the gold certification means sales of more than 500,000 units. "This whole 'Homecoming' phenomenon started because the Gaither Vocal Band wanted to get together with some of my old friends and sing a song," Gaither said. "I never dreamed that these little videos would ignite such a powerful fire in the hearts of so many music lovers." To date, the video projects have sold more than 20 million units. The Gaither Music Group produces all of the “Homecoming” videos and EMI CMG Distribution is the distributor of the series in the Christian retail market. The series' two newest videos, Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art, are slated for an Aug. 28 release. |
