The co-creator of children's favorite Barney the purple dinosaur is set to launch a new children's character in the Christian market through Provident-Integrity Distribution.

“BOZ,” a series about an animated green bear, will debut March 14 in two DVDs, Thank You God for … Colors and Shapes and Thank You God for … Friends and Helpers. Each 40-minute DVD contains three episodes and two music videos.

Dennis DeShazer founded Exclaim Entertainment (part of Reel FX) with partner Jon Green to produce family-centered preschool programming for the Christian market. In the series, BOZ explores with friends Drew and Gracie. The children's parents and grandparents also play a central role in the series.

“Our hope is (for the series) to make a difference, to impact families with our stories and characters,” Green said. Exclaim has partnered with Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) and FamilyLife, a division of Campus Crusade for Christ, to promote the product to families.

Zonderkidz also will release in March the first two books in the “BOZ” series, God Loves Your Nose and God Gives You Friends.
