Bookstore Manager, a leading provider of total technology solutions for the Christian retail industry, has developed a Christian gifts database as an enhancement to its Christian Books and More (CB&M) database. The prototype for this database, to be called Christian Books & More Gold (CB&M Gold), was demonstrated this week at the International Christian Retail Show. The initial launch is scheduled to release in August. "To my knowledge, this is the first time anyone has attempted to standardize a Christian gift product database," said Randy Voorhees, president and founder of Bookstore Manager. "Suppliers have never provided stores a consistent way within the gift category of titling or describing their product. For the most part, this forces the stores to hand key the data into their P.O.S. system. With no consistent title or description, it's been virtually impossible to create a standard gift product database." To develop the new database, Bookstore Manager has worked with more than 80 stores. The database initially will include about 30 key gift suppliers with more being added each month.
