Store manager Sherri Litza of New Covenant Christian Supply in LaPorte, Ind., communicated her passion and expertise in Bible selling at Tuesday's workshop A Strategy With a Purpose: Selling More Bibles Through Sales, Service and Training.

Litza, who has chosen to make Bibles “a focal point” of her store, told workshop participants that a good Bible department can set them apart from other types of stores that sell Bibles as well as enhance their store image and brand. She encouraged retailers to have the right inventory mix for their particular customer demographic and to keep tabs on inventory turns.

Retailers were given training materials for their staff and were challenged to add value to Bible sales through such services as in-store Bible-study courses, Bible cover coupons, imprinting and rebinding.

Litza's store was a 2003 CBA Retail Impact Awards winner.
