Marilyn Moore, editor in chief and vice president of Guideposts, announced this week she would be stepping away from her current role. During the company's dinner Monday evening, she made the remarks to attendees, but refrained from using the word "retiring." She later explained to Christian Retailing her news wouldn't lead her away from the company completely. "I love Guideposts," she said. "I just thought it would be wise at this point to say I'm not leaving and I'm not retiring, but I'm stepping out so I can contribute as a writer to Guideposts and also leave space and let the business grow." Moore said she had written for the company years ago, but has been too busy in recent years to write. She plans to contribute creatively and shape new management developments for the company's future. "You never leave it," she said. "You're part of the Guideposts family. I will maintain a very strong tie to our whole book publishing operation." The company also presented new leadership this week, introducing President Dick Hobble and Vice President of Book Publishing Jonathan Merkh, most recently with Thomas Nelson as senior vice president and publisher of Nelson Books. During the dinner, Hobble paid tribute to Moore's 30-plus years of contribution to the company. Because of the new changes, Moore said she would not have a direct replacement, but her responsibilities would be distributed. |
