Delilah voices another familiar Old Testament  name in VeggieTales’ latest

There is a bumper crop of VeggieTales products brought to market this month, with the latest DVD from Big Idea arriving in stores alongside The VeggieTales Bible from Zonderkidz. Abe and the Amazing Promise (8-20413-11309-4, $14.99, Word Distribution) arrives in Christian retail stores Feb. 7, as usual three days ahead of its general market release.
The latest adventure features the voice of popular radio host Delilah, who is Sarah in the episode based on God’s promise to Abraham and his wife, and subtitled “A Lesson in Patience.”

A longtime VeggieTales fan, Delilah said she had been delighted at the opportunity to be part of an episode. VeggieTales was “my first and favorite pick when it’s time to entertain my kids with video entertainment,” she said. “The stories are rich and full of very funny lines and poignant lessons.”

The 55-minute program finds Junior Asparagus anxious for the latest show to wrap up shortly after it begins. But when Bob the Tomato decides to respond to a fan’s letter about “waiting” by directing a Bible-times interview with Abraham, Sarah and their promised son, his—and Junior’s—patience is tested by spitting camels, a confused nurse, an easily distracted film crew and a host of other disasters.
The comical chaos is intended to remind children that “God always keeps His promises … even if we have to wait a while.”

Bonus features include the new Silly Song Sing-Along “Sneeze If You Need To,” which will be screened on more than 500 Chuck E. Cheese in-store screens. Other extras are a behind-the-scenes guide, video trivia, an interactive storybook and game, and a discussion guide.

The DVD will be promoted on Delilah’s show in February and in stores as part of VeggieTales’ “Values to Grow By” spring campaign that includes the new Bible and re-issues of three classic episodes, Rack, Shack & Benny, Josh and the Big Wall and Dave and the Giant Pickle ($9.99 each).
