Editorial Unilit released the “Mamá” (mom) series in November with four books by Sharon A. Hersh, helping mothers relate to their teenage daughters. The translations, each retailing for $12.99, include “Mamá, ¡me siento gorda!” (“Mom, I Feel Fat!”, 978-0-789-91533-7), “Mamá, ¡todo el mundo lo hace!” (“Mom, Everyone Else Does!”, -5-1), “Mamá ¿qué tiene de malo el sexo?” (“Mom, Sex Is No Big Deal”, -2-0) and “Mamá, ¡detesto mi vida!” (“Mom, I Hate My Life”, -4-4). Shaw Books published the English versions between 2001 and 2006.
“The series is ideal for mothers, especially for those who have teenagers,” said Mariana Tafura, Editorial Unilit’s sales and marketing assistant. “The author opens our eyes to the problems of young women with their struggles, thoughts, doubts, addictions, fears, frustrations and other things you can’t imagine.” Readers are “encouraged to become allies with the daughters God has given,” she added. “Although we go through hard times, we’re privileged to have a strong bond that keeps us close to them, superseding the problems.” Hersh, a licensed professional counselor and popular speaker on adolescence, uses numerous illustrations from her counseling practice and her personal experiences as the mother of two teenage girls.
