Helping teenage girls recognize and overcome Satan’s lies is the theme of a new book that releases next month from Editorial Portavoz, Kregel’s Spanish imprint. “We selected this book to publish because we intentionally want to provide solid Christian material to a market that has been generally overlooked in Spanish Christian publishing—the youth market,” explained Cathy Vila, sales and marketing director at Portavoz. “This book was written with teenagers in mind and is just what is needed to help young women without talking down to them. “The lies that the authors talk about are universal—they cross the culture barrier—Satan’s lies affect everyone, everywhere,” she added. “The authors both believe that the vast majority of Christian young women are suffering the consequences of believing the lies they see all over television, in movies and on the Internet.” As part of their research, the authors conducted a survey in 10 cities. They considered the responses of more than 1,000 young women, Vila said. “They uncovered 25 of the most commonly believed lies. ... The consequences of believing these lies can be broken relationships, fear, depression and guilt—and that’s just the beginning,” she said.
