zahnd book'God - Inspired Blueprint' Found in King David's Response to Personal Crisis

In What to Do On the Worst Day of Your Life, Brian Zahnd delivers a timely message of hope in the midst of major trials, based on timeless truths found in a largely overlooked episode in the life of King David.

Senior pastor of Word of Life Church in Saint Joseph, Mo., Zahnd first shared the inspiration he found in the 1 Samuel account more than 15 years ago, after learning of several church members facing personal struggles. In David’s crisis at Ziklag, where his possessions were stolen, his house burned down and his family kidnapped, Zahnd found principles for his church members in responding to calamity.

The sermon he preached as a result was so popular he self-published a book based on it. He recently returned to the manuscript, at the urging of his friend, pastor and author Jentezen Franklin, who said he had found the book to be a “God-inspired blueprint” for surviving a crisis.

Zahnd revised 80% of the original material while keeping the “skeleton intact.”

The book’s chapters are taken from David’s responses to his difficulties, including “Encourage Yourself in God,” “Get a Word From God,” “Celebrate Recovery” and “Give to Others.”

“There’s always hope, there’s always the grace of God, and there are certain things we can do to line ourselves up with that,” Zahnd said.
