Hendrickson Publishers rolls out Matthew’s Bible: 1537 Edition this month. The Bible is a replica of the famous 1537 Matthew’s Bible compiled by pastor John Rogers. It included translation work by William Tyndale and Myles Coverdale along with the 1534 New Testament, and was licensed by King Henry VIII. The new Hendrickson replica includes clear, legible type and a new preface. The Bible is geared toward collectors and students and comes in two versions—hardcover for $69.95 and black genuine leather for $99.95. Evangelism is the focus of the God’s Word Outreach Bible, which released last month from Baker Books (Baker Publishing Group). Priced at $9.99, the Bible is designed to give away, and includes larger-than-average 8.5-point type, a Teachings of Jesus index, an index of applications, a dictionary/concordance and single-column paragraph format. The God’s Word translation is translated from the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek, providing a resource in natural English. Thomas Nelson releases The Expanded Bible New Testament (Thomas Nelson) next month. The new translation, developed by a team of Bible scholars, provides study resources within the Bible text, including traditional wordings for familiar terms and expressions, comments to help explain content, variants to provide additional wording from the ancient manuscripts, expanded translations to offer alternative definitions and literal meanings. The publisher has promoted the new translation with digital sample-chapter giveaways. The Expanded Bible New Testament releases in softcover for $19.99 and hardcover for $29.99. Women are the target audience for the Daily Spiritual Refreshment Bible for Women, releasing this month from Barbour Publishing. Highlighting a devotional thought, inspirational idea or insight, the Bible uses the New Life Version in a way that encourages women to read through the Scriptures in a year. The new Bible is retail-priced at $24.97 for a polyurethane edition or $14.97 for softcover. Richard J. Foster, Dallas Willard, Eugene H. Peterson and Walter Brueggemann are four of the scholars providing content for The Life With God Bible, releasing Aug. 4 from HarperOne. Using the New Revised Standard text, the new Bible shows how spiritual disciplines are central to the teachings in God’s Word. The Life With God Bible includes an introductory essay on The With-God Life; 15 With-God essays, introductions and notes for each book of the Bible; 50 character studies; spiritual exercises; concordance; and Spiritual Disciplines index and glossary. The new Bible is a re-branding of the 2006 The Renovaré Spiritual Formation Bible, and is available in leather-like binding for $39.99 or in softcover for $24.99. |
