Zondervan names BibleGateway.com president Print Email

Zondervan has announced the appointment of Internet entrepreneur Joseph Park as president of BibleGateway.com--the most popular Web site for reading and researching the Bible, acquired by the Grand Rapids, Mich., publisher from Gospel Communications in October 2008.

In his role, Park will be responsible for all leadership and management aspects of BibleGateway.com and Gospel.com, company officials said. His initial focus will be to assemble a staff, including designers, software developers and account executives as well as marketing and operations support. BibleGateway.com will have offices in Seattle, New York and Grand Rapids.

'Daunting' scriptures get another comic-book look Print Email

Released in a new size and format next month by Barbour Publishing, The Comic Book Bible leads 8- to 12-year-old readers through more than 60 of the most important stories of Scripture--from creation, Adam and Eve, and Noah to Paul's letters and the revelation of John.

Each story in the 264-page book is condensed for young readers and illustrated with full-color comic images. Action-oriented stories like those of the giant warrior Goliath, of Jonah's encounter with a huge fish and of Elijah's confrontation with the prophets of Baal are complemented by teachings from the wisdom books, Jesus' parables and the New Testament epistles.

‘Treasure Hunt’ for retailers at ICRS Print Email

Revelation Marketing Group (RMG) is co-sponsoring a Treasure Hunt with publishers it represents at the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS), next month.

Retailers attending the July 12-15 event in Denver can enter a drawing to win the grand prize of $1,100 in frontlist titles and best-selling books as well as $550 in cash. Eleven second prize winners will receive $100 in free books and $50 in cash.

With more brand-new titles being sold in diverse channels, backlist has become a bigger focus for Christian retailers.

Stores and suppliers say they are giving more marketing and promotional emphasis to their backlist titles, blogging about them, pairing an author's new and older titles on displays, and watching news and cultural trends closely in order to promote books on popular topics.
