Chriscynethia-FloydChriscynethia Floyd will join David C Cook as vice president of sales and marketing for books and new media, effective July 6. In her new role, Floyd will be responsible for strategic planning, resource development and project acquisitions for the books and new media unit, reporting to Executive Publisher Verne Kenney.

“Chriscynethia has an incredible background in in the publishing industry and has held key positions in marketing, sales and product creation," Kenney said. "She brings a fresh look to our work of creating disciple-shaping content for local churches around the world. I’ve had the privilege of working with her in the past and know her to be a person that brings unique insights along with really strong leadership skills.”

Audie-AwardFor the first time in 20 years, a Thomas Nelson book has received one of the prestigious Audie Awards. Before Amen: The Power of a Simple Prayer by Max Lucado and narrated by Ben Holland, was awarded the 2015 Audie Award in the Inspirational/Faith-Based Non-Fiction category Thursday, May 28, at the Audie Awards Gala in New York City.

Although this is their first Audie Award, this is not the first collaboration for Ben Holland and Max Lucado. Holland has narrated numerous Lucado audio books, including The Cure for the Common Life, In the Grip of Grace, In the Eye of the Storm, A Gentle Thunder, The Angels Were Silent and He Chose the Nails.

Josh McDowell to meet with church-store group at ICRS Print Email

Josh-McDowellAuthor and apologist Josh McDowell will meet with church-store managers and church leaders at a free reception during the International Christian Retail Show (ICRS). The reception will be held Tuesday, 4:30-6:30 p.m., June 29, at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida.

McDowell will bring biblical artifacts to the convention as part of his mission to energize the church and skeptics alike with tangible evidence for the accuracy and reliability of the Bible. At a time when youth are rejecting the church and others are leaving, McDowell hopes his message and ancient artifacts from archaeological discoveries can reshape the conversation to bring people back to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. McDowell will be touring the U.S. to support this initiative based on his recent book, God Breathed (Barbour Publishing).

Newton has been with the company for the past nine years, previously serving as the publicity director for W Publishing, a Thomas Nelson imprint. During her tenure, she led multiple publicity campaigns for award-winning titles and New York Times best-sellers, including Todd Burpo's Heaven Is for Real; Ron Hall and Denver Moore's Same Kind of Different As Me; and Billy Graham’s Nearing Home and The Reason for My Hope.

GMA recognizes Bridge Ministry's Candy Christmas Print Email

Candy-ChristmasThe Gospel Music Association recently honored Candy Christmas, founder of The Bridge Ministry, during the Second Annual GMA Honors held at Lipscomb University's Allen Arena. The event celebrated those individuals and organizations that impact culture through their individual efforts. Christmas was recognized for her contribution in service to the Nashville, Tennessee community through her organization, The Bridge Ministry.

Accolades from a diverse group including Governor Mike Huckabee, Reba McEntire and Journey’s Jonathan Cain honored the ministry. The most poignant acknowledgment, however, came from formally homeless Jeff Stultz, who said his life was changed when he met Christmas under the Jefferson Street Bridge.
