Worthy Publishing announces key promotions Print Email

DavidHowell-webWorthy Publishing announced two promotions June 5. David Howell is now executive vice president, and Debbie Felt has stepped into the position of vice president of sales.

Formerly senior vice president of finance and operations for Worthy, Howell joined the company in 2009. Prior to Worthy, Howell served as senior vice president of finance and operations at Integrity Publishers under current Worthy President and CEO Byron Williamson, and as senior vice president of finance and operations for Word Entertainment.

Felt, who was sales director of Christian and trade accounts for Ideals and Guideposts, will oversee international accounts and children’s products for Worthy in the CBA market. A veteran with more than 20 years in the retail environment, Felt has been a buyer for notable department stores, conducting catalog/direct mail, online sales and business-to-business ventures, and has worked for a distributor for the warehouse clubs. She has been involved with the publishing industry in various capacities since 1990.

“David has been one of the integral individuals in the launch of Worthy Publishing, and with our incredible growth over the past few years, to see him promoted is a well-deserved honor from our board,” Williamson said. “We are also thrilled to have Debbie on board at Worthy. As a recent addition to our company with the Ideals acquisition from Guideposts, we are pleased to recognize Debbie and the vital role she has already fulfilled in our sales force.”

 
AAP: Book sales slow in February Print Email

AAP-NewLogoPublishers’ book sales as of February decreased 7.5 percent for the year-to-date at $1.71 billion compared to $1.85 billion for the same two-month period in 2014, according to the latest Monthly StatShot report from the American Association of Publishers (AAP).

Religion publishers also were not spared the pain, as sales dropped 2.4 percent for the year-to-date and 10.4 percent for the month as compared to February 2014.

Rose Publishing acquires Rainbow Publishers, Legacy Press Print Email

Capitol CMG announces new president, restructuring Print Email

PeterYork-webVeteran Christian music executive Peter York has been promoted to president of Capitol Christian Music Group (CCMG). CEO Bill Hearn, to whom York will continue to report, made the announcement today.

In his expanded role, York will add oversight of the creative direction and leadership development of CCMG’s publishing and distribution divisions to his current responsibilities of managing the company’s Label Group, which includes Sparrow Records, Forefront, sixstepsrecords, Hillsong and Jesus Culture, among others. With York’s promotion, Hearn will intensify his focus on driving the company’s strategic direction, business development initiatives and key partner relationships. Hearn also will maintain oversight of the Motown Gospel label, which is led by Ken Pennell, president of Gospel Music, CCMG.

The author of the Zondervan-published book One Thousand Gifts visited Iraq in March and met with mothers forced to live in shipping containers now that the so-called Islamic State group had taken over their hometowns.

McNabb started with the company in 1978 as its first product development manager, recalling that his first new product line consisted of about 30 items, introduced to a team of four sales representatives.
