Outdoor living company merged into Demdaco Big Sky Carvers/The Yellowstone Company has merged into gift and home-accent company Demdaco. "We recognize that in this new economy we have to look for opportunities to operate more efficiently and effectively," said Marc Pierce, Big Sky Carvers founder and president. "Having our business become part of one of the premier companies in our industry makes great sense all around." Demdaco co-founder and CEO David Kiersznowski said: "We see Big Sky Carvers as one of the truly great brands in our market, and Marc and his team bring a lot to the table for us. There are very good synergies that will undoubtedly allow us to grow together." Big Sky Carvers' distribution, finance, sales and customer service will be handled at Demdaco headquarters in Kansas City, Kan., while product development, product marketing and key account sales will remain in Montana. "Ours is a Montana company and it's extremely important to me and to all of us that the soul of the company stays in Montana. But relocating distribution and other functions to Demdaco, which has consistently ranked at the top of our industry in customer service, will ultimately serve our customers even better," Pierce said. Founded in 1980 by Eric and Marc Pierce as a woodcarving workshop, Big Sky Carvers now offers gift and home décor products reflective of outdoor lifestyles, wildlife and lodge living. |
