Former pastor Francis Chan's first book, Crazy Love , has sold more than a million copies since it was released by David C. Cook in May 2008. Chan, whose Crazy Love calls for radical devotion to Jesus, has embodied the message by donating all royalties from the book as well as all of his products to charity since by initial release, Cook officials said. Besides Crazy Love, Chan's second book with Cook--Forgotten God--has been a fixture on the Christian market best-seller charts for months, and the two DVDs of the"Basic" film series released in conjunction with the titles have also sold well. Chan is "a voice for this generation," said Ryan Dunham, Cook's senior vice resident of sales and marketing. "His passion and authenticity are evident in his writing and speaking. And even though his message of sacrificial and bold living is not easy to follow, Francis continues to show us the way." Founding pastor of Cornerstone Church in Simi Valley, Calif., which started in 1994, Chan left the congregation in May to work directly with the poor locally and internationally. Chan is also the chancellor and founder of Eternity Bible College and serves on the board of directors for Children's Hunger Fund and World Impact, an inner-city missions organization dedicated to planting churches among the urban poor nationwide. |
