David C. Cook has announced plans to release books next spring by Man vs. Wild star and British adventurer Edward "Bear" Grylls and his wife, Shara. To My Sons: Lessons for the Wild Adventure Called Life by Bear Grylls is scheduled for release before Father's Day 2012, and Never Stop Holding Hands and Other Marriage Survival Tips by Shara Grylls will hit stores in time for Valentine's Day 2012. "As Bear's influence [grows] through his TV show, and as their ministry around the world expands, we believe that these intimate books will inspire and encourage people to follow Christ," said Don Pape, publisher of trade books and study resources for Cook. In To My Sons, a gift book featuring illustrations by well-known U.K.-based artist Charlie Mackesy, Bear offers practical and spiritual wisdom along with scriptures and inspiring quotes he believes are important to pass onto his three sons. In Never Stop Holding Hands, also a gift book with illustrations by Mackesy, Shara offers "poems, recipes, old wives' tales and common-sense counsel for a happy long-lasting marriage," Cook said. Bear is best known for his hit Discovery Channel show, Man vs. Wild, and has served as a spokesman for the Alpha course, a Christian discipleship program developed at Holy Trinity Brompton church in London. |
