First-time author Ann Voskamp’s One Thousand Gifts has sold a quarter-million copies in less than a year, prompting publisher Zondervan to offer a free mobile app for the book’s growing readership. In the book, Voskamp invites readers to embrace everyday blessings and take note of God’s gifts. The app allows users to chronicle up to 1,000 gifts through photos and texts, and gives users the ability to instantly share their gifts on Facebook, Flickr and Twitter (#1000gifts). On a dare from a friend, Voskamp—a homeschooling mom of six and the wife of a full-time farmer—began writing a list of 1,000 gifts found in her life. In just 11 months, the book that came out of that dare, One Thousand Gifts: A Dare to Live Fully Right Where You Are, has sold 250,000 copies, spent 20 weeks on the New York Times best-seller list and become a USA Today and Amazon best-seller.
