Harvest House Publishers has been honored for its prophecy publishing. Company President Bob Hawkins Jr. received the John F. Walvoord Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pre-Trib Research Center (PTRC) Dec. 5. The presentation at the 20th Annual Pre-Trib Study Group Conference in Dallas marked the first time the award has been given to a publisher, as it is traditionally presented to a scholar or teacher. The award was established by PTRC as a tribute to Walvoord—the longtime president of Dallas Theological Seminary who died in 2002—recognizing his legacy of prophecy publishing. He was perhaps best known for his Armageddon, Oil and the Middle East Crisis (Zondervan), which sold more than 2 million copies and was printed in 16 languages. “We are truly humbled by this honor and very grateful for the ongoing ministry of the Pre-Trib Research Center,” Hawkins said upon receiving the award. “Both Harvest House and the Research Center share a sincere heart for the significance of the pre-tribulational interpretation of Bible prophecy and publishing resources that bring forth genuine hope and purity as we live out our Christian faith.” Founded by Tim LaHaye—co-author of the best-selling “Left Behind” series—the PTRC aims to encourage the research, teaching, propagation and defense of the pre-tribulational rapture and related doctrines. |
