Mardel Christian & Education has expanded the use of Integra Interactive’s myMEDIA BurnBar to 11 store locations and to Mardel.com. The chain’s use of the media-on-demand kiosks will be rolled out to the remaining 25 stores by the end of the first quarter of 2012. Mardel President Jason Green said his company had been “very pleased with the performance of and sales from the myMEDIA BurnBar.” The move comes after a nine-month test of the system in its Oklahoma City, Okla., store. Mardel’s testing of burn systems dates to 2008 when it installed the isMOD burn system, and in late 2010, the chain began testing the myMEDIA BurnBar. Last spring, the decision was made to expand its use chain-wide. Mardel officials told Integra Chief Innovation Officer David Amster that two of the key reasons for selecting Integra were its digital catalog, which covered nearly all of the Christian music labels and its commitment to excellent tech support. Although the chain’s initial interest was in performance tracks, the test phase showed that almost 40% of the burn transactions were for full albums and a la carte song playlists. In related news, Don Noes—senior vice president of business development at Integra Interactive who was key in signing partnerships with Mardel and Lifeway Christian Stores to use myMEDIA BurnBar—has left the company to join City of Peace Media as chief operating officer/business development. Noes was also responsible for securing the digital rights from major record labels and for the development of those digital product catalogs through the interactive kiosks. Reporting directly to Yochanan Marcellino, founder, president and CEO of City of Peace Media and City of Peace Films, Noes will be responsible for operational oversight of the music label and film company, market expansion, product placement, marketing and merchandising. “I’m very excited to join such a forward-thinking team,” Noes said. “I’ve had the privilege of working with Yochanan for nearly 15 years. His desire to reach the world through music and film is a testimony to his passion and commitment to his calling.” “My friendship and business relationship with Don over the years has been built on a strong spiritual foundation,” said Marcellino. “We welcome him as we continue to expand into the faith-based film industry and several new market initiatives.” |
